The Hottest Novelty Candy of 2021--Mr Squeezy Pop Review
In a world where products need to be instagrammable to gain traction, innovation and packaging are as equally important as the taste for any food items. Mr Squeezy pop surely fits the bill in all fronts. To also claim that it is the hottest novelty candy in the market is not an easy feat, but to tell you the truth, this product is one of the most intriguing candy products I came across to date.
I was given 3 Squeezy Pop lollipops to try by the Koko’s Confectionery and Novelty, which manufactures this product. They sent me three different flavours—strawberry, blue raspberry and green apple, with bright and engaging packaging (holographic box illustrating the gel coming out from the nozzle) made me squeal in delight. Letting you all know, I am obsessed with American candies. Out of all the candies out there, my favourite brand is Jolly Rancher and followed by Gobstopper. I grew up eating those plus any sour candies that make my mouth water just by the sight of it. So to receive this in the mail makes my 32-year-old self extremely ecstatic. Thank you again to the Koko’s Confectionery and Novelty brand for sending me these lollies.
Like I have mentioned, the box that housed the three lollies had a very colourful exterior and interior, with holographic design. If you tilt the box forwards and backwards, you would see the design change from no sour gel to the gel springing out from the nozzle. I found that extra detail for the box alone heightened the eating experience. Once I opened the box, the products did not disappoint in their bright colours, which are the same colours as advertised. I do not like products that only look beautiful in photos and under deliver in real life so I was so stoked the products did not disappoint. In terms of size, the lollies were bigger than your average lollipop and they did not scrimp on the amount of gel (kindly refer to my photos for size comparison against my hand).
In terms of taste, the flavours are reminiscent of Jolly Rancher flavours, which I totally adore. The main difference is the lollipop if eaten on its own is sweet with a little hint of sourness of the fruit flavour. The gel is sour in taste but when eaten together, it creates a flavour harmony, sweet with a sour finish. Out of the three, the sourest flavour is the strawberry. Upon consuming this with the gel, my parotid glands immediately went to work and excreted as much saliva as it can, but this is a great sign in my books. I love sour candies as mentioned above and I expected nothing less than this. The lolly with the least sour flavour is the green apple. And the most balanced out of the three is the blue raspberry. All of the lollies delivered in their flavour profile description. And out of all the three, my favourite is the blue raspberry.
The nozzle wherein the sour gel comes out of is located at the base of the lollipop. When I squeeze the body of the product, the gel immediately comes out with ease. The texture of the gel is not too thin or too thick; it was just the right amount. It is up to the consumer on how much and how less sour gel to lollipop ratio he or she wants on every mouthful. I find that Squeezy Pop is generous in the amount of gel per container, which I highly appreciate. The only downside is, you have to keep tilting the product downwards for the gel to come out, by virtue of gravity. It can also be an upside since there is total control on how much and how little you want to consume the sour gel with the lollipop.
Overall, this product exceeded my expectations. Not only is it for the kids, but it is also targeted towards the kids at heart. A must try product in my books. Upon googling, this product is already available in Walmart USA.
